Richard S. Coles

“Dick” Richard S. Coles (Dick) passed peacefully in his sleep December 20, 2013. Dick was born July 20, 1934 in Everett, WA. He married Yvonne Joseph in 1968. He loved racing and working on cars, and had a special love for fishing. Dick was preceded in death by his son, Rickey, and wife, Yvonne. He is survived by his son, Robert Joseph Sr.; daughter in law, Lucinda; grandsons, Robert Jr. and Brandon; great-grandsons, Jordan and Braden; sister, Dorothy Wilson; special nieces and nephews, Donna Chambers, Adrian Henry, Alice, J Lee, Carrie, Randy Henry, Mike Johnson, Matt Joseph, Leroy Joseph, David, Larry, Laurie; and special caregiver, Alex Hatch. Funeral services will be held at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home December 26, 2013 at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

Leroy Martin “Lee” Fryberg Jr.

Leroy (Lee) Martin Fryberg Jr. Leroy (Lee) Martin Fryberg Jr. Sut ‘u kaad was a Tulalip Tribal member born on November 12, 1957 in Everett, WA. He entered into rest on December 7, 2013. He was born to the late Leroy M. Fryberg Sr. and Ella M. Hill. He was also adopted out and raised by the late Robert and Keeta Cameron, where he lived with them until he graduated from Everett High School in 1976. Leroy had a large heart and was committed to serve his family and his people. Throughout his life he helped many different people any way he could, he volunteered to help out at community events, helped cook for community gatherings, he loved being out on the water, beading, cutting wood, playing sports, and especially playing and spending time with the grandkids. During Leroy’s life he worked as a logger, security officer, commercial fisherman, as well as other odd end jobs. He met his lifelong partner of 24 years, Lahneen Fryberg, and together they raised eight wonderful children, Tanisha (Merlin), Kiah (Andy), Natasha (Ryan), Josephine (Chandell), Leila, Andrew, Brandee, Cameron. Also grandchildren, Keiara, Ladainian, Kailonna, Maleia, Bryson, Anderew Jr., and Aiden. He is also survived by siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, many adopted children and grandchildren, as well as many friends. Leroy was truly blessed with an amazingly large family. Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy M. Fryberg, Ella M. Hill, Robert and Keeta Cameron; his brother, Martin J. Fryberg and sister, Dee Dee Cameron; and grandsons, Dason Blondin and Jordyn Moses. A viewing will held December 11, 2013, 1p.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home with an interfaith service to follow at the Tulalip Tribal center at 6p.m. Funeral services will be held December 12, 2013, 10 a.m. at the Tulalip Tribal Center with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

Wendy Leigh Gobin-Young

Wendy Leigh Gobin-Young, 52, passed away on October 16, 2013 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma cancer.

Wendy was born in Arlington, Washington on June 23, 1961 to Thomas and Beverly Gobin. She was a very active participant in school and graduated from Arlington High School in 1979. Throughout her life Wendy dedicated her time to the Tulalip Tribes holding numerous positions including, but not limited to, a receptionist, fish hatchery technician, member on the Enrollment Committee and TERO Commission. She also held the position of Enrollment Manager for 8 years, attending conferences and trainings all over the United States bringing various new changes to the Enrollment Department. During this time Wendy began assisting families with funeral arrangements and was offered the position of Funeral Services Officer. Wendy was very respectful and compassionate when dealing with the preparations for the deceased; this compassion was greatly appreciated by all.

Wendy was a member of the Tulalip Tribes and was well known for her intricate micro-beadwork and Native American jewelry. She loved traveling to pow-wows, canoe journeys, Makah days, conferences and exhibitions throughout many states and reservations. The family is in hopes that her jewelry will be cherished and loved by all whom have received it.

She will always be remembered for her special attention to children and her abundantly stocked stand at Boom City, infamously named the “MOTHERLOAD”, which was stocked with fireworks in the beginning and candy/novelties in the later years. Wendy took great pleasure in singing for funerals, family events and weddings, as well as traveling with her father and the Church of God band during her entire life.

Wendy is survived by her husband and best friend, Steve Young; companion and caretaker, John Ancheta; mother, Beverly Gobin; children Corrina Gobin-Olson (Gary), Krisan Fryberg (Ross), and Michael Moseley (Nicole); adopted children, Jeffery Reeves, Rebecca Marteney, Samantha Marteney, Cidney Marteney, Julia Ancheta, Maxima Ancheta and Jasmine Ancheta; sisters, Valda Gobin (Herb), Helen Gobin-Henson (Dave), Debra Posey (Dean), Rhonda Gobin (Gerald); brothers, Billy Gobin (Teri), Johnny Dumont, Tony Gobin (Judy), and Mike Gobin (RaeAnne); grandchildren, Keely, Brooklyn, Izaiah, Hayleigh, Ross Jr., Mason, Makayla and Brock. She is also survived by an extended family too numerous to list. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe Pete and Ruth Gobin, James and Ann Duffy; father, Thomas Gobin; sister, Marilyn Lewis; and special nephew, Teddy Shane Orr.

Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, 807 State Ave., Marysville. An Interfaith Service will be held Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. Tulalip Tribal Center, 6700 Mission Beach Road, Tulalip. Funeral Service will follow on Monday, October 21, 2013 10:00 a.m. at the Tulalip Tribal Center with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

Obituary: Anna M. Hatch

On Sept. 30, 2013, Anna M. Hatch left to be with the good Lord and her loving husband. She was a homemaker for the first twenty years of her marriage, then worked for twenty years at the Tulalip Smoke Shop. Anna leaves behind a brother, Earl (Moxy) Renecker (Bernice-D); a sister, Isabelle Legg (James); three daughters, Karen Bayne (Hatch), Vicki Hatch-Jablonski (Steve), Gloria Hatch (Steve); a grandson, Punkies (Buck-Jones-Hatch), who lived with her since he was born; Isabelle Cervantes and Anna Leigh Hatch who lived with her too; her other grandchildren, Tressa, Anderson (Kenneth M.), Jamen Anderson, Tever Anderson, Jessica Anderson (Luther), Anthony “Tony” Reese (Sarah) and Linzee Jablonski; and 10 great-grandchildren; Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Verle Hatch, of 60 years who passed away in April; brother, Henry (Hank) Gobin who passed in April; her mother, Isabelle Walker Brown; father, Henry Gobin Sr.; and siblings, Shirley, Emery, Daryl, Frank and John. Patty was born December 30, 1973 to Marge Baker and Carl Rehder Jr. She entered into rest September 25, 2013. Patty graduated from Marysville-Pilchuck High School. She loved crocheting, knitting, embroidering, bowling and her little wiener dogs. She loved her nieces and nephews, and her favorite sister, Christy. Dorraine Frances Jones

Dorraine Frances (Williams) Jones, 78, was born and raised on the Tulalip Indian Reservation. Her parents were Lawrence Charles Williams and Christina Fryberg of Tulalip. She passed away on August 22, 2013 at Everett, Washington.
Dorraine was born to a fisherman and fished with her husband, “Breezer” on their boat the “Dorraine J.” She started her career with her dad beach seining, then fishing with Breezer, she also worked many years at the original Smoke Shop located by the dam on the reservation; and later in the first tribal health clinic as a Community Health Representative. She enjoyed her culture by harvesting cedar, cascara bark, berry picking, clam digging, canning and cooking for family events. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Dorraine is survived by her son and daughters, Jimmy Jones (Kristy L.); Rae Anne (Mike) Gobin, Karen (Steve) Gobin; her grand-children, Justine Jones, Brent Cleveland (Sara E.), Ron Cleveland, Joshua Cleveland, Shelby Cleveland (Trever H.), Sonia Gobin (George S.), Steven Gobin Jr. (Chandra R.), Kevin (Laini Jones), Natosha Gobin (Thomas W.) and Jessica Jones; great-grandchildren, Brent Cleveland Jr., Evalynn Cleveland, Rosalie Cleveland, Stella Cleveland-Husein, Kylee Sohappy, Kira Sohappy, Koli Sohappy, Kaliyah Sohappy, Aleesia Gobin, Eian Williams, Wakiza Gobin, Florence Gobin, Eliana Gobin, Jet L. Dorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. Jones Jr.; parents, Lawrence and Christina (Daisy) Williams; parents-in-law, Ralph and Edith Jones, Lena Harrison; her sons, Kevin O. Jones, Ralph D. Jones III; her grandson, Nathan D. Cleveland; her sister-in-law, Genevieve Williams; brother-in-laws, Darrel R. Jones, Frank Wright; and nephew, Greg Williams.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Everett Providence Hospital for their support in her final days. A special thank you to mom’s caretakers, Jimmy, Kristy, Justine, Brian “Bubba” and Chasity who were there for her night and day for the many years that she had been ill.

The Viewing will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 27, 2013 at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home in Marysville. An Interfaith Service to celebrate Dorraine’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on August 27, 2013 at her home. Funeral Services to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 28, 2013 at the Tulalip Tribes Gym followed by burial service at the Mission Beach Cemetery.

Matthew Allen Crawford

Matthew Allen Crawford, 26, entered into rest on August 21, 2013.
He was born November 30, 1986 in Everett, Washington to Cyrina Williams and Troy Crawford.
He will be missed dearly by his mother, Cyrina; lil’ sister, Angelique Williams; brother, James John; his sisters, June DeFresne, Marjorie McDaniel; brother-in-law, Josh McDaniel; nephew, Logan McDaniel; father, Troy; grandparents, Cyrus and Thelma Williams; uncle, Timothy Williams; aunties, Terri, Lynda, Leslie, Jamie-Bagley; Auntie, Melodie McNab, Cindy Crawford; and step-father, Henry DuFresne; numerous cousins in Tulalip, Tacoma and Canada; and many friends of Bill W. and also of N.A. meetings in the Marysville and Tulalip area.
Matthew loved life, he had some troubles but he turned his life around and got his GED, Driver’s License, graduated from carpentry training and become a certified diver on July 26, 2013. He worked for the Tulalip Tribes in custodial maintenance which he loved to go to work. He was clean and sober for over a year.
A visitation will be held Monday, August 26, 2013 at 1:00 p,m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home with an Interfaith service following at 6 p.m. at the Tulalip Gym.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tulalip Gym with burial following at Mission Beach Cemetery.

Lillian Marie Williams

Lillian Marie Williams, 48, of Tulalip, Washington went to be with her Creator on August 8, 2013.
She was born April 16, 1965 in Bellingham, WA to Walter Williams Jr. and Loretta Tom.
Lillian worked as a Youth Advocate at the Los Angeles Indian Youth Center for five years. She traveled with Bobby Labonty and Dale Ernhart in NASCAR circuit. She was active in her native culture.
She is survived by her fiance, Charles Comenote; mother, Loretta Tom; father, Walter Williams Jr.; children, Frances George, Brandon George, and Irvin Jack, Alannah Thiefault; step-children, Tonya Comenote, Kealynn Comenote, Charles Comenote Jr; siblings, William Washington III, Crystal Bailey, Robert Williams, Esther John, Ernest John III, Leonard Lawrence, Jack Johnson; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lateesha “Teesha” Mae Jack, 21, passed away August 5, 2013.
She was born April 12, 1992 in Everett, WA to Rainey Jack Sr. and Roseanne Iukes. She graduated from Tulalip Heritage High School. She loved playing Call of Duty, and basketball.
She is survived by her parents, Rainey Jack Sr., Roseanne Iukes; siblings, Veronica Iukes, Jennifer Flores, Jesse Wolf-John, Loreal Jack, Rainey Jack Jr., Terrell Jack; her daughter, Maliya Henry; grandparents, Mary Jack, Geraldine and Hank Williams, Nelson and Jennifer Iukes; numerous, aunties, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by brother, James Titus Jack; grandfather, Windy Jack; uncles, Harvey Jack, Harold Enick and Gerald Enick.

Jeffery Ernest Jack

Jeffery Ernest Jack, 51, of Tulalip, WA passed away August 4, 2013 in Everett.
He was born December 7, 1961 in Everett to Sandy and Henrietta Jack.
Jeff is survived by his sisters, Roxanne Miramontes, Shirley Jack and her husband, Terry McGovern and Sandra Senner; nieces, Rocio Hatch, Jasmine Ancheta, Jacque Nye; nephews, Roberto Jack, Kody Johnson, Richard Johnson, Joshua Senner; aunt, Beverly Grant; uncle, Mike Cladoosby; and numerous cousins; and his special Wayne Peters.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, grandparents, Ernest and Lena Cladoosby; brother, William Jack; and sister, Brenda Jack.
Jeff loved making people laugh. He was uncle dad and he will be missed by all.
