August 27, 1967 – September 17, 2023

Lindy Lee Morris Sr. was born on August 27, 1967 in Bellingham, Washington to parents Dawn Williams and James Morris Sr. Lindy joined our ancestors on September 17, 2023. Lindy was a proud Tulalip Tribal member and resided on the Tulalip and Lummi Reservation most of his life. The family reminisced about the earlier days and time spent at the family home on J street. Lindy attended Chemawa Indian School and returned home, embracing his inherited rights. Fishing on the Elusive Dream and The Western Warrior, he fished with his cousins, uncles, especially his son Colin in Tulalip and Bellingham . Lindy was a crabber, clam digger and hunter as well. Most of all, he enjoyed life with the oxygen to his lungs and love of his life, Dora Johnson. Lindy survived by his mate, Dora; children, Zack, Talin, Tyson, Dravon, Tristen, Trevor, Collin, Chase, Lindy Jr., Logan, Bryson and only daughter, McKayla. Brothers, James Morris Jr, Joseph Morris (Deanna), Steven Morris; aunties, Sharon James (Andy), Jean Morris and uncle Ron Morris (Gloria) and numerous nieces and nephews. Lindy proceeded in death by his parents, Dawn Williams and James Morris Sr. Son, Zack Morris; Sister, Crystal Wassillie; grandparents, Ron and Cecilia Morris and numerous family members. Interfaith services will begin 6pm Monday, September 25th at the Tulalip Gathering Hall. Funeral service, 10am Tuesday, on September 26, 2023 with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

June 30, 1984 – September 9, 2023 

Debra Diane (Hatch) Bob was born June 30, 1984 to Denise Martinez and Wayne John Hatch Jr. and passed away September 9, 2023. Her native name was “Chicdabee”. Debra grew up in Tacoma and Port Angeles and moved to Tulalip in 2008. She enjoyed beading and traveling with her children to rivers and lakes. She spent all of her time with her children whom she loved very much; she was a Koala bear momma. She also enjoyed listening to music and dancing.

Debra is survived by her grandmother Sandy Suppah, mother Denise Martinez, children Jazlynn, Jada and Damian. Siblings David, Johnny and Monica and Great Aunt Betty (Hatch) Smith. She was preceded in death by her father Wayne John Hatch Jr. and sister Ladeanea Marie Hatch.

An evening service for Debra will be held Monday, September 18, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Tulalip Gathering Hall, 7512 Totem Beach Rd, Tulalip, WA 98271. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Tulalip Gathering Hall.

September 29, 1964 – August 12, 2023

Gary was born September 29,1964 to Jeannie and Alvie McCollum and passed away August 12, 2023.
He liked traveling and sightseeing all over Indian country and participated in Sun Dance, drumming at Summer pow-wows, and participating in ceremonies. He enjoyed going to concerts, listening to music, and playing guitar. Gary loved visiting and joking around with all who met him. He always went on spontaneous adventures with his son Levi. Gary made everyone he was with laugh, he touched many people with his jokes and if you ever met him you know he made a memorable impact.
Gary is survived by his son Levi McCollum and step-son AJ Williams-Yellowwolf sisters Lisa (Lisa) Olver and Mary (Bow) Oman, brother Robert Fryberg. Nieces and nephews Anthony Sanchez, Merissa Sanchez, Colett Boualavanh, Kayla Pablo, Charlo Pablo, David Charley, Joseph Davis, Rocky Renecker, Riley Renecker.
He was preceded in death by hhis parents, baby boy Byron, brother Rocky (Leslie) Renecker, sister Shannon Edwards-Pablo. Aunts Janet McCloud and Marleen Myers. Nephew Louie Pablo III.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Tulalip Gathering Hall with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

February 14, 1937 – August 11, 2023 

On August 11, 2023, Daniel Stamaris, loving husband, father and friend, with a quick smile and endearing sense of humor died at the age of 86 in Lynnwood. He was born to the late Michael and Mabel Stamaris on February 14, 1937 in Mandan, North Dakota. He peacefully joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is now reunited in heaven with his bride Delores. He is survived by his son wife Daniel and Heather Stamaris and their children, Melissa, Leah, Amber, Aaron and Abigale and granddaughter Kenzie; his son and wife James and Evelyn Barrie and their son Brent; his son and wife Donald and Michele Stamaris and their children Jennifer, Donald II, Jeremiah, Michael, Aric, Sarah, Noah and Heleena; his son and wife Craig and Rochelle Barrie and their daughter Naomi; and daughter and husband Sunny and Douglas Golden and their three sons, Joseph, Christian and Sam; as well as his special friend King George the cat. He is also survived by his brother Jack Stamaris. Daniel also had many friends that he loved including Adrianne Fraser, Phyllis and Julie Tardo.

A lover of Jesus and a devoted Father, he made a career at Boeing to provide for his beloved family. Throughout his career he was at the forefront of the implementation of the Boeing 747 program as well as the Airforce One Presidential airliner. He loved and was loved by many people and provided a strong shoulder to lean on while giving encouragement and sage advice to anyone who asked. He enjoyed Country Music, traveling the country with his wife and spending as much time as he could with his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

 July 30, 1948 – July 26, 2023

Daniel Gene Zackuse, Sr., born on July 30, 1948 to Pauline Zackuse and Edward Felix in Tacoma, Washington and passed on July 26, 2023. 
Gene was a lifetime resident of Tulalip, he served two years in the Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran.

Gene started working for Tulalip Tribes as the Water Superintendent, Recreation Manager, served on the Housing Commission, many years as a logger and retired as a Veteran’s Coordinator. He had so many good memories working and being a part of the logging crew.
Gene is survived by his wife, Marie, children, Joe, Regina, Daniel Jr., Nathaniel and Jerard Sr., his precious grandchildren Shalana, Sheniece, Darien, Janae, Jerard Jr, Jalyssa, Jayliah, Jaedynn, Janiesha, JaKiah, Maecynn, Daniel III, Anthony, Jasmin, Brandon, Joe Jr, Great Grandchildren, River, Solana, Oakley, Elijah and Ivy and also his Brother, Charles Comenote Sr., nieces Tonya and Kaelynn and nephew Charles Jr, and Michael.

Gene was proceeded in death by his Mom, Pauline Comenote, Dad, Edward Felix, Grandfather Mitch Zackuse Sr, Grandmother, Ella Libby Zackuse, Uncles Jim Zackuse and Bill Zackuse Sr., Aunties Rosalie, Betsy, Yvonne (Cooley), Vera Mae, Sister Norma Comenote, brothers George Jr and Frances Comenote and our precious grandson Scheiyenne Lane.

An evening service will be held Tues., Aug. 1 2023 at 5:00 PM at the Tulalip Gathering Hall. A celebration of his life will be held Wed., Aug. 2, 2023 at 10;00 AM at the Tulalip Gathering Hall with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

April 17, 1971 – July 9, 2023 

Ambrose “Fella” Alexander James Jr. passed away July 9, 2023 in Tulalip, Washington. Ambrose was born April 17, 1971 to Ambrose Sr. and Virginia “Gin” James, in Seattle, Washington.
He was a life-time resident of Tulalip. In his youth he was the best video game player and could spend hours at the arcade. He kept his cousins busy by building swings, riding bikes, & taking dare devil jumps. As an adult Ambrose worked at the Tulalip Casino as a Table Games Dealer and in the Maintenance Department. He use to stop in & enjoyed visiting with all of his family, he will deeply be missed.
He is survived by his aunts Clarissa Johnny, Mary Ann Espinoza, Elaida Charlie, Lucy and Lorraine Jimmy uncles Andy (Sharon) James, John and Leroy Jimmy. Cousins Tonina White, Clarence Adam’s, Pamela, Edith (Rob), Merle, Albert Jr. Johnny. Marvin “Muff” (Jaclyn) Edwards and Jamie Sue Bagley & her children. Lots of cousins; Kesha, Kaylishus, Mandee, Darla, Kathi, Victoria, Alexis, Mileena, Toninia , Tahsheena, Jerry, Michael, Chris, Codeey, Anthony, Kayden, Sheldon, Lincoln, Araya, Brennen, Havier, Felipe, Phillip, Antonino, Alicia, Ava, Cyrus, Tyler, Elijah, Elizabeth, Frank Jr, and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose Sr. & Virginia “Gin” James, grandparents Fillmore and Clara; Uncles Mike, Johnny, and Kermit James great-grandparents, John E. James and Madeline Kanim James; Great Uncle Cy and Margaret James, Auntie Pauline Badroad, Roberta Suppah, sister, Kathy James. Niece Chastity James. Cousins Krystal Cooper, Alfreda Johnny, Alberta Johnny, David James, Clarissa Williams, and Rose Buck.

An evening service will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the Tulalip Gathering Hall. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Gathering Hall with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

July 10, 1990 – July 5, 2023

Drew Hallam was born July 10, 1990 in Everett Washington to Cathy Wood and Duane Hallam. He passed away July 5, 2023 in a tragic car accident.

He grew up in Mount Vernon, Washington with a passion for competition and adrenaline. He became a fierce athlete and a strong teammate. His love for sports continued into his adulthood where he continued in CSSA softball with his NA family. If he wasn’t on the field or the court, he was instilling his love for sports in his son Kieran. 

Kieran became Drew’s proudest accomplishment, he showed him the fundamentals of each sport. Watching his son become as fierce a competitor as himself was the highlight of his life. 

Drew loved his family deeply. He had a talent to leave an imprint on all he came across in life. He was also kind and generous to anyone he met. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for those he loved. 

It’s no surprise that Drew found a career as an arborist, and from the start exceled in the field. He mastered his craft and became an expert who thrived in the most difficult of situations and removals. No tree was too tall and no job to extreme. 

He will be missed.

Drew leaves behind his son Kieran Hallam, mother Cathy Wood, father Duane Hallam, brother Brian (Kylie) Hallam, his brother in life Danial (Angel) Osburn, grandmother Sandie Markle, grandfather Harry Alexander, aunts and uncles Stacy Alexander, Corrine Markle, Nancy Hallam Caudill, Gene Hallam, niece Adaline Hallam and numerous cousins. 

Service will be held on Tuesday July 11th at 10:00 A.M at the Tulalip Tribal Gathering Hall at 7512 Totem Beach Rd. Tulalip, Washington 98271, with burial following at Mission Beach Cemetery.

October 26, 1984 – June 8, 2023

Blake Edward Moses born October 26, 1984 to Robert “Bebop” Moses Jr and Kimberly Bustamante. Went to the Lord June 8, 2023. He was a wonderful grandson, nephew, brother, cousin, son and father. He had a zest for life. He grew up and was raised by is grandmother Johanna Moses and Aunty Annie Moses, who spoiled him rotten. He enjoyed yearly camping and ocean trips with the whole family, and going to many Native sporting events. He loved fishing, crabbing and hunting with his uncles and cousins.

He learned to play the piano from his Aunty Annie and excelled, from that point on he could pick up any instrument and learn it. He loved all music and jammed with his brothers and bro’s. Blake and fiancé Lucy recorded many songs together traveling and playing at many venues.

Young love brought five beautiful children into his life with Breanne. He leaves behind children, Kohen, Kaine, KamBrea, Kendalynn, Kwynn Moses; siblings, Lorne Moses, Athena Moses, Aimee Moses; mother Kimberly Bustamante; grandmother Johanna Moses; aunt Annie Moses; uncle Jon Moses Sr, Anthony Moses Sr. Aaron Moses Sr. Willie Moses, Benjamin Burchell; aunt Rachel Proper; uncles Marvin and Allen Burchell; nieces and nephews, Tianna, Kiera Moses, Desean Moses, Kathryn Elliott, Ira Moses-Snyder, Aaliyah Camaro Downing; and his fiance’ and love of his life, Lucy T. He is also survived by great aunts, Rachel Hood, April Smith, Julie Russell, Vickie Tsoodle and Teresa Whitish; great uncle Danny Moses; and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Be-Bop” Moses Jr; brother Warren Moses Sr.; grandfather Robert Moses Sr.; great grandparents Marya Jones Mosses, Walter Moses Sr., Albert and Annie Moses, Cherri Beirley; and special uncle Raymond “Teatmus” Moses. October 29, 1943 – June 6, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of John Richard McCoy share his passing at the age of 79 on June 6, 2023. John had multiple health issues which he battled through every day for several years; and he died in his home surrounded by family at their residence located on the Tulalip Indian Reservation near Marysville Washington. 
John had many roles in his life and it was noted by his daughter Angela McCoy that each of those roles were a lifetime in themselves, most notable as the Chair of the Democratic Caucus with the Washington State Senate.
John was born in 1943 on the Tulalip Indian Reservation, he married his childhood friend and companion Jeannie McKay in 1965 and raised three daughters.
John was a 1961 graduate of El Capitan High School in Lakeside, CA. 
John’s career began with commercial fishing in Puget Sound until he enlisted in the Air Force where he served for 20 years. Upon retiring as a Technical Sergeant (E-6) from his last duty station at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, he was immediately recruited by UNISYS to continue his government work as a Computer Programmer, and he was assigned to staff the Reagan White House situation room.
Stan Jones, then-Chairman of Tulalip Tribes, actively recruited John to return home to the reservation to pursue economic development. Indian gaming had commenced and the Tribes were struggling to adapt and build the infrastructure necessary for this powerful new form of economic development. John’s contributions to the development of Quil Ceda Village and infrastructure gained national recognition for his innovation, stewardship and stellar success within the Tulalip Indian Reservation.
John was bestowed with an Honorary Master of Public Administration degree, and recognized as the 2020 Public Official of the Year by the Master of Public Administration program of The Evergreen State College.
John served as Washington State Legislator from 2003 to 2020, first as a Representative and then as a Senator, representing the 38th Legislative District (Everett / Marysville / Tulalip). He was elected by his colleagues to serve as the chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus in 2016. 
Survived by his spouse Jeannie (McKay) McCoy, his wife of 58 years, children Angela McCoy, Sheila (Jim) Hillaire, and Cara (Darrell) Tohannie; sisters Carolyn (Kevin) Gerhart and Marianne (Keith) Blatt, 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and cousins, especially Lavinia Carpenter and Coralyne Rose.
Preceded in death by his father MCBM John Richard “Dick” McCoy, US Navy retired, his mother, Jennie (Freda) McCoy, brother Michael McCoy, and sister Antoinette McCoy Koeth, and his infant daughter, Catherine McCoy
A public memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the Tulalip Gathering Hall at 6:00 p.m. and Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Tulalip Resort Casino Orca Ballroom at 9:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in support of the Senator McCoy Scholarship, The Evergreen State College scholarship fund. Arrangements entrusted to Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville.

JUNE 1, 1999 – MAY 12, 2023

Gilbert Eugene Moses III, 23 of Tulalip passed away on May 12, 2023 in Everett, WA.

He was born June 1, 1999 in Warm Springs, OR to Gilbert Eugene Moses Jr and Monica Alleen Wahnetah. He was raised by his grandparents and his father in Tulalip, Enjoyed playing his PlayStation and going to the mountains with his grandparents, He read a lot of books. He worked at the “QCC” and the Buzz Inn.

He is survived by his father, Gilbert Moses Jr; his mother Monica Wahnetah; siblings, Tarly Florendo, Nicole Wahnetah, Kari Wahnetah, Irmah Wahnetah, Briann Tewee-Wahnetah, Lindsey Tewee-Wahnetah ; great aunts Johanna, Rachel, April and Julie, Vicki, and Teresa,; great uncle, Daniel; aunts Sylvia (Robert) Myers and Arnel (Alan) Williams; grandmother, Kate Jackson; and numerous cousins.

An evening service will be Monday, May 22, 2023 at 6:00 PM at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Tulalip Gathering Hall with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.
